A new blog

You may ask what is the point of me making another blog. After all, I do have a portfolio website, a wedding blog, a Facebook page and a Flickr to name a few websites. Well firstly I would like to say that I have a compulsion towards creativity and creative projects – specifically, documenting life through images, and the Internet allows me to share this. This obviously isn’t my main reason for making this site. I’ve always admired those photographers who have managed to successfully integrate their own personal photography with their business photography on blogs, it must be a hard balancing act. One that I’ve never wanted to follow or copy. For me, although my own personal photography and wedding photography is so connected, I don’t think they can exist together on one page, it’s a distraction from the main show and it’s something I’ve always avoided. Another problem I’ve had is that other formats like Flickr don’t lend themselves well to a blog type format – so when I want to upload a set of images, I end up taking alot out and only showing a few, which is the best thing for Flickr but heart wrenching for a storyteller.

So what does that mean? Well it means I will document my personal images in a blog style, but I will still add the ‘best’ odd image to Flickr. I will add to the blog a lot of images I would otherwise tend not to show because they don’t fit anywhere else. I will also communicate via writing a bit more and hopefully it will enable more people to talk to me about my passion for documentary imagery.
