I wasn’t going to do a blog post on what our house looks like, but Emily asked me to do one. She wants to see the transformation we make to our home – and of course I just love that idea! I often look back on my images and am struck by the emotional impact of what was and how it’s changed – in essence that can be the beauty of documentation. Emily is glued to a blog called young house love, I mean she must read it everyday! In their blog they document their house being ‘done up’. I think it’s important to remember what our house started out like and I cant wait to see it transform into a stunner!
The entrance hallway – Most of the walls as you would expect are grubby from the previous tenants and need painting or cleaning. This place also stinks! We really like the ‘wainscoting’ it’s something we have always wanted in a house, it’s also good that I don’t have to install it.
The living room – just like most of the rooms in the house the walls are covered with so many screws!!! and like the other rooms isn’t lit well at all. There is a little place under the stairs for Rosemary’s crate. I won’t show you the garden but there is a massive veranda that needs to come down, I think once it is down the living room will be much brighter.
The kitchen – as you can see we have already taken down a lot of ‘interesting’ wall items. Also keen to neutralise the orange and blue colour scheme!
Hallway – Another feature of this house is that it has a lot of hallways ( which are of course dark! ) I tell you these hallways are going to be filled with art and photography. Once I take down the 1000’s of screws.
My office ( 1st floor ) This is actually the first room I started on, I’m excited to get going.
Bathroom – Check out that gross flooring! It’s only covered in wee…
Guest room – this room is probably the room that needs least doing to it.
This buddy was on the window sill when we arrived. I think I’m going to wrap it up and pretend it’s a serious present for someone.
The next room was used as a walk in closet and I think we will use it like that for the foreseeable future.
Our bedroom – we love the skylights.
En-suite – This room is disgusting! and also the first room in our plans to change.
