Passed down coins

Higher Love – James Vincent McMorrow

I never knew my grandfathers on either side and although one still lives we are so estranged that he doesn’t know my name. Although there is a sense of normality as I’ve not known anything different, I still carry a sense of loss and sadness of not knowing the people who were at one time so important to me, even in a small way. I don’t have many pictures of them if any. I do have this coin collection that was passed down to me from my dad, it possibly even came from my great granddad.

Although some of the coins have gained in price, they are not that special in of themselves but that’s never been the point. As a kid I always imagined my grandfathers adventures and the reason why he might travel to far off lands.  I will pass these coins on to my children and tell them of the adventures of my grandfather. This is my pirate treasure.
